Basketball Recap: Bennett Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Bennett extended their home winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Owen Stiers. The Bennett Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Middle Park Panthers on Thursday, sneaking past 72-70 thanks in part to Stiers, who almost dropped a double-double on 36 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Bennett's points.

Middle Park's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Gagnon, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Gagnon is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Paugh, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 16 points and seven steals.

Bennett is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Middle Park, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Bennett has already played their next match, a 55-34 win against Arvada on the 3rd. As for Middle Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 83-26 victory against Platte Canyon on the 1st.
