Basketball Recap: Fertile-Beltrami Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Fertile-Beltrami faced off against Mahnomen/Waubun on Monday. The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons opened the new year with a less-than-successful 49-39 loss to the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Fertile-Beltrami has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-8.

Fertile-Beltrami won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northern Freeze co-op [Marshall County Central/Tri-County] at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, they and Fosston will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played.
