Tri-Township had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it eight. They lost 13-5 to the South Central Satellites. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Tigers' highest-scoring game to date.
As for South Central, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded them with their most commanding win of the season.
For South Central's part, Maddy Cleek was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Cleek was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Valerie Horne and Brooke Perriera did most of the damage at the plate: Horne got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Perriera got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Perriera has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Allen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Looking ahead, Tri-Township will square off against West Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Central, they will challenge North Newton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
