Baseball Recap: Garfield Wins Going Away Against Roosevelt

Garfield owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Roosevelt Roughriders. That looming 4-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

The result came thanks to Spencer Merwin's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Garfield is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Taylor Woods was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lockie McIver, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Garfield's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Roosevelt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garfield will host Chief Sealth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Seahawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Roosevelt, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ballard at 3:30 p.m.
