Basketball Recap: Topeka Skates Past Atchison with Ease

On Friday, the Topeka Trojans blew past the Atchison Phoenix, posting a 49-17 win. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Phoenix are ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Topeka pushed their record up to 5-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Atchison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Topeka will take on Shawnee Mission South on Thursday. Shawnee Mission South will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Topeka surely won't give up without a fight. As for Atchison, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Schlagle on February 4th.
