Soccer Game Preview: Burlingame vs. Menlo-Atherton

The Burlingame Panthers will take on the Menlo-Atherton Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burlingame's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Burlingame fell victim to Carlmont and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Scots, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 782nd, while the Scots are ranked 297th).

Meanwhile, Menlo-Atherton hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They blew past Sequoia 5-1. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 2.6 goals per game.

They hit Sequoia with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Nathan Thurlow (2), Manases Lara Alvarez, Yandel Hernandez, and Lucas Selvik.

Menlo-Atherton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three contests. As for Burlingame, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9-2.
