Football Game Preview: Port Charlotte Pirates vs. Jones Fightin' Tigers + How To Watch

Two dominant signal callers in Logan Flaherty and Dereon Coleman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Port Charlotte Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Jones Fightin' Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Port Charlotte comes in on three and Jones on nine.

Port Charlotte is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 22-21 victory over Jesuit.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Flaherty and Will Griffin. Flaherty had a solid game and threw for 197 yards and one TD. Meanwhile, Griffin was balling out in the loss, throwing for 257 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 64 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Jones didn't have too much trouble with Lake Wales on Friday as they won 24-7. The Fightin' Tigers pushed the score to 24-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Highlanders cut but never quite recovered from.

Port Charlotte better keep an eye on Daunte Wallace. He was instrumental in Jones' win, rushing for 120 yards and one TD. With that strong performance, Wallace is now averaging an impressive 100.5 rushing yards per game.

Jones didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lake Wales to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The Fightin' Tigers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 75%.

Port Charlotte's record now sits at 11-2. As for Jones, their record is now an identical 11-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Port Charlotte has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Jones struggles in that department as they've been averaging 180.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
