Basketball Recap: Aniyah Coffie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coral Gables over Braddock

If Coral Gables was riding high fresh off their 58-31 takedown of Jackson last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coral Gables Cavaliers took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braddock Bulldogs. The Cavaliers lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-32 score last time.

Coral Gables lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aniyah Coffie, who posted 12 points. Sela Pena was another key player, putting up ten points.

Coral Gables has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Braddock, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coral Gables will welcome Coral Reef at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Coral Gables is facing Coral Reef at the right time seeing as Coral Reef is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Braddock, they will take on TERRA Environmental at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
