Volleyball Game Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Bishop Ireton Cardinals

The Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers will head out on the road to take on the Bishop Ireton Cardinals at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown Day will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Georgetown Day is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: National Cathedral, who was ranked fourth at the time (Georgetown Day was ranked first). The Mighty Hoppers blew past National Cathedral 3-0 on Thursday.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Georgetown Day was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-9, 25-12.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bishop Ireton faced off against Archbishop Carroll on Thursday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lions. The Cardinals not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 25th (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Bishop Ireton took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-5, 25-14.

Georgetown Day's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Bishop Ireton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Georgetown Day took their win against Bishop Ireton when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Mighty Hoppers repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
