Basketball Recap: Sumter County's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After flying high against Jordan last Monday, Sumter County came back down to earth. The Sumter County Panthers took a 62-43 bruising from the Hardaway Hawks on Tuesday. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mikayla Johnson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds for Hardaway. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Akilah Shelton, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The loss snapped Sumter County's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record. As for Hardaway, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Sumter County Panthers take on the Carver Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hardaway, they will face off against Hoover at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
