Basketball Game Preview: Gibbon Buffaloes vs. Amherst Broncos

Gibbon is 1-7 against Amherst since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Gibbon Buffaloes will look to defend their home court against the Amherst Broncos at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Gibbon is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Doniphan-Trumbull on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Gibbon came up short against Doniphan-Trumbull, falling 74-51. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Cardinals are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Amherst's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Cozad and fell 61-34.

Gibbon's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Amherst, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Gibbon might still be hurting after the 67-47 loss they got from Amherst in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Thankfully for Gibbon, Scout Simmons (who almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and 13 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
