Basketball Game Preview: New Manchester Jaguar vs. Evans Knights

New Manchester is on a 18-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Evans is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The New Manchester Jaguar will host the Evans Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kyara Lawrence and Chabria Tate.

New Manchester is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Alexander on Saturday. New Manchester fell just short of Alexander by a score of 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Jaguar have suffered since February 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, Evans hadn't done well against Glynn Academy recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Evans came out on top against Glynn Academy by a score of 60-47.

Evans found their leader in sophomore Tate, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. The game was Tate's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Kimariya Hinton was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Evans smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glynn Academy only pulled down nine offensive boards.

New Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Evans, their win bumped their record up to 24-3.
