Baseball Recap: Gaffney Comes Up Short

Gaffney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boiling Springs Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat on Tuesday.

Brady Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Gaffney: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Bradbury, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Gaffney's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Boiling Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gaffney is set to take on their familiar foe Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Boiling Springs will face off against rival Wade Hampton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
