Basketball Recap: Battle Ground Academy Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

It's playoff time, and Battle Ground Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past the St. George's Gryphons with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 66-47. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Gryphons are ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, St. George's saw an underclassman step up: freshman Carson Crump shot 44% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jackson Jones, who posted ten points.

Battle Ground Academy pushed their record up to 24-12 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for St. George's, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-7.

Battle Ground Academy has already played their next game, a 78-68 defeat against Providence Christian Academy on the 8th. St. George's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
