Baseball Recap: River Ridge Hawks vs. Silas Rams
River Ridge had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-13 to make it four. They fell just short of the Silas Rams by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hawks have suffered since April 9th.
As for Silas, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.
For Silas' part, Carter Lystra made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Lystra has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Lystra wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cade Owen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Owen a new career-high.
