Volleyball Recap: Turtle Lake's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Turtle Lake won the last time they faced Ellsworth and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lakers won by a set and slipped past the Panthers 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Lakers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Their offense was headlined by Olivia Korish and Charli Molls, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Lacey Popenhagen and her 14 assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Turtle Lake's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Ellsworth, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Turtle Lake will challenge Prairie Farm at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Lakers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Ellsworth, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Durand-Arkansaw on Thursday.
