Basketball Preview: Sunrise Mountain Mustangs vs. Kellis Cougars
Sunrise Mountain has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Kellis Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kellis took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sunrise Mountain, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Sunrise Mountain beat the Trojans 53-48.
Meanwhile, Kellis' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Ironwood, falling 73-41. While losing is never fun, Kellis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Eagles are ranked sixth).
Sunrise Mountain's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-16. As for Kellis, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.
Sunrise Mountain beat the Cougars 64-55 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sunrise Mountain since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
