Football Game Preview: SA Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Madison Mavericks

SA Roosevelt is 2-8 against Madison since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rough Riders will head out to square off against the Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. SA Roosevelt has given up an average of 38.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

SA Roosevelt is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Brandeis on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Rough Riders took a blow against the Broncos, falling 55-20. The Rough Riders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Despite the defeat, SA Roosevelt got top-tier performance from Xavion Chambers, who rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 148 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison). They took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 37-7 victory over LEE. The Mavericks not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since November 1, 2024 (when they won 31-0).

Madison moved to 2-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for SA Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

SA Roosevelt came up short against Madison when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 30-22. Can the Rough Riders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
