Baseball Recap: Charter Oak Find Success

While Charter Oak's victory against Rowland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Raiders 15-13. 15 seems to be a good number for the Chargers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jefte Cruz and AJ Guzman did most of the damage at the plate: Cruz went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Guzman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Charter Oak is undefeated when Guzman posts two or more runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mario Ortiz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs.

Charter Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Charter Oak and bumps their season record up to 10-6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Rowland, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.

Charter Oak will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
