Softball Recap: St. Mary's Academy's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

St. Mary's Academy won the last time they faced Cohen and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 26-4 margin over the Green Hornets. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Chloe Harris and Samia Siddiq did most of the damage at the plate: Harris went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI, while Siddiq scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Harris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nave Batiste, who scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: St. Mary's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.

St. Mary's Academy's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-4-1. As for Cohen, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8-1.

Looking ahead, St. Mary's Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Newman at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cougars have won four straight at home, while the Greenies won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Cohen has already played their next contest (against St. Katharine Drexel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
