Soccer Game Preview: Pope vs. Walton

The Pope Greyhounds are taking a road trip to face off against the Walton Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pope, who comes in off a win.

Pope proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Chamblee 2-1. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Pope were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Walton didn't have quite enough to beat Dalton on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The loss put an end to Walton's undefeated start to the season.

Walton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Pope, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Pope couldn't quite get it done against Walton in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 as they fell 2-0. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
