Baseball Recap: Pearsall Comes Up Short

Pearsall extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-20. They lost 15-0 to the Floresville Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in March.

As for Floresville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-6-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Floresville's part, Landen Mutz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Mutz has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Floresville got a massive performance out of Austin Beyer, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave Beyer a new career-high. Nolan Westbrook also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Coincidentally, Pearsall and Floresville will both be playing Uvalde the next time they take the field. The Mavericks will head out to face the Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
