Basketball Preview: St. John Bosco Braves vs. Sierra Canyon Trailblazers

St. John Bosco is on a ten-game streak of home wins, while the Trailblazers are on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The St. John Bosco Braves will take on the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John Bosco knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully the Trailblazers like a good challenge.

St. John Bosco stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 87-59 victory over Orange Lutheran. Given St. John Bosco's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Lancers are ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elzie Harrington and Brandon McCoy Jr were among the main playmakers for St. John Bosco as the former scored 19 points along with seven steals and the latter scored 27 points along with three blocks. McCoy Jr is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last five games he's played. Jack Turner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Meanwhile, Sierra Canyon fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Celts on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Celts by a score of 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

St. John Bosco has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. As for Sierra Canyon, their loss ended a 26-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 24-2.

Things could have been worse for St. John Bosco, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-46 loss to the Trailblazers in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Will St. John Bosco have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
