Softball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends East Wake's Winning Streak

East Wake fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against West Johnston on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

East Wake saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaimee Fowler, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Katelyn Smith was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

East Wake's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for West Johnston, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. East Wake is set to square off against their familiar foe South Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 4, the Trojans 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, West Johnston will challenge rival Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
