Recap: Oakwood Panthers vs. Bynum Bulldogs
The Oakwood Panthers won the last time they faced the Bynum Bulldogs, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Oakwood enjoyed a cozy 39-25 victory over Bynum. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Oakwood.
Leading Oakwood to victory were Rai'Miaya Winston and Jacee Youngblood. Winston scored 13 points along with six blocks and five rebounds, while Youngblood dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. The match was Youngblood's third in a row with at least ten points. Cadence Velasquez was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Bynum still got an impressive performance from Brooklyn Compean, who scored 13 points. Compean is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaedyn Degner, who scored six points.
The win got Oakwood back to even at 4-4. As for Bynum, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Avalon at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Avalon's defense has only allowed 26.1 points per game this season, so Oakwood's offense will have their work cut out for Oakwood. As for Bynum, they will head out on the road to face off against Penelope at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Penelope is ranked 1417th, while Bynum is ranked 1403rd).
