Baseball Recap: Eisenhower Takes a Loss

Eisenhower entered their match against Jurupa Hills on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eisenhower Eagles fell 5-2 to the Jurupa Hills Spartans. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Denzel Sahagun was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Eisenhower is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Eisenhower saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mariano Nicasio, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Nicasio's first of the season.

Eisenhower's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Jurupa Hills, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eisenhower will challenge Carter at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Jurupa Hills, they will take on Chaffey at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Jurupa Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
