Softball Recap: Wekiva Comes Up Short

Wekiva was the 16-0 winner over Freedom when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wekiva Mustangs lost 17-7 to the Freedom Patriots on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly ten runs.

Camilla Delgado was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Maci Fix also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Wekiva dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Freedom, with the win, they broke their 17-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-10.

Wekiva will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lake Buena Vista at 6:00 p.m. on March 26th. Freedom will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Dr. Phillips at 6:00 p.m. on March 26th.
