The Bethany Community Wolves will head out to take on the Burlington Christian Academy Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bethany Community will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
While Bethany Community didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Bartlett Yancey on Wednesday. Nine seems to be a good number for the Wolves as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Bethany Community got a great performance from Jacob Schick as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, Schick posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathan West, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Ryan Rudd was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Bethany Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Burlington Christian Academy beat North Raleigh Christian Academy 5-2 on Tuesday.
Will Grubb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lofton Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Davis Philips, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Bethany Community's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Burlington Christian Academy, their record is now 9-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bethany Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .412. However, it's not like Burlington Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
