While Hughesville's win against Bloomsburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Panthers on Wednesday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Dylan McConnell was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Wetzel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Hughesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hughesville's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Bloomsburg, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Hughesville and Bloomsburg could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 266th) will meet Athens (ranked 121st) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Bloomsburg will challenge Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (598 vs. 33).
