Baseball Game Preview: Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders vs. Bell Creek Academy Panthers

The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders will face off against the Bell Creek Academy Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Clearwater Central Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over St. Francis, taking the game 6-2. The victory continues a trend for the Marauders in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Philip Skorewicz made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Skorewicz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Brkljacic, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Joey Sweeney also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bell Creek Academy). They blew past Real Life Christian Academy 20-1 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Bell Creek Academy moved to 7-14-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-16.
