Softball Recap: Eldorado Comes Up Short

Eldorado extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 1-17. They came up short against the Chaparral Cowboys, falling 32-22. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (19), the Sundevils still had to take the loss.

As for Chaparral, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13-1 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Chaparral's part, the team relied heavily on Angelina Carrillo, who went a perfect 6-for-6 with one home run, nine RBI, and three stolen bases. Those nine RBI gave Carrillo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Yzuly Duran, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Eldorado will take on Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sundevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 17.7 runs per game this season. As for Chaparral, they will challenge GV Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Guardians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.71 runs per game on average), something the Cowboys will no doubt try to take advantage of.
