Softball Recap: Torrington's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

While Torrington put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Crosby. The Raiders put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Sophia Pergola made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Julia Rinaldi was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilah Boulli, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Torrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

With the victory, Torrington broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6. As for Crosby, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Torrington is set to square off against their familiar foe Watertown at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Crosby will face off against rival Kennedy at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for the Bulldogs: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home dating back to last season, while the Eagles have snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
