Softball Recap: Cheverus' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 18

Cheverus strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Bonny Eagle Scots. The Stags have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Scots, too.

Bonny Eagle's batters probably weren't too happy with Addison DeRoche, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up three walks). DeRoche has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Cheverus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Cheverus' win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Bonny Eagle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cheverus is set to square off against their familiar foe Windham at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Stags 1.2, the Eagles 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Bonny Eagle will face off against rival Biddeford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
