Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Jonathan Alder's Winning Streak

After a string of 17 wins, Jonathan Alder's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Centerville Elks by a score of 2-1. The Pioneers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Elks from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Jonathan Alder actually scored more points across those three sets (69-68), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-23.

Ali Hayes paced Jonathan Alder's offense, picking up 19 kills. Hayes got some help from Kacey Anderson and her 23 assists. Hayes was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Jonathan Alder's loss dropped their record down to 18-2. As for Centerville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Jonathan Alder and Centerville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Pioneers (ranked 26th) will meet London (ranked 187th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Centerville will take on Beavercreek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (75 vs. 213).
