Baseball Recap: South Triumphs

South lost to Maize back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 5-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Cougars' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

South got a great performance from Landon Huffman as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Huffman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jaxon Anthony was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jace Humphrey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

South's record is now 10-5. As for Maize, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 10-4 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South beat the Eagles by a score of 5-0 later that day.
