Softball Recap: Mt. Rainier Triumphs

Mt. Rainier hadn't done well against Kentwood recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rams came out on top against the Conquerors by a score of 13-10. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 18-0 win the Conquerors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Makayla Oliver was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Gabbi Hammock also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Mt. Rainier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Mt. Rainier back to even at 2-2. As for Kentwood, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mt. Rainier is set to square off against their familiar foe Stadium at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Kentwood will challenge rival Kentridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
