Basketball Recap: Jayma Stonebraker Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Fort Wayne Northrop

Whitko lost to Fort Wayne Northrop back in November of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Whitko Wildcats secured a 69-64 W over the Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins.

Whitko's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayma Stonebraker, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 21 points. Stonebraker has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Adriyanna Phillips was another key player, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds.

Fort Wayne Northrop lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Swynn Jackson, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Miley Wareing, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Whitko has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-5.

Whitko wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 74-53 victory against Wabash on the 8th. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fort Wayne Snider at 6:00 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Janaya Cooper and Jackson.
