Basketball Recap: KIPP Denver Collegiate Extends Winning Streak to Two

If DSST: College View wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played KIPP Denver Collegiate, they should've done a better job of containing Shaila Ramirez. The KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers were the clear victor by a 43-21 margin over the DSST: College View Wolves on Friday thanks in part to Ramirez, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Nicole Ricalday was another key player, putting up eight points along with 16 rebounds and six steals. She has become a key player for KIPP Denver Collegiate: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 4-10 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for KIPP Denver Collegiate and bumps their season record up to 8-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.5 points over those games. As for DSST: College View, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

KIPP Denver Collegiate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. DSST: College View will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on STEM School Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th.
