Baseball Recap: Eight Straight Home Victories for River Forest

There's no place like home for River Forest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on the Whiting Oilers with a sharp 16-3 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Ingots, who have now won four contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Brandon Fergerson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Sebastian Collazo IV was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Walter Jaime was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

River Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

River Forest's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Whiting, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
