Softball Preview: Harvard Hornets vs. Johnsburg Skyhawks

The Harvard Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Johnsburg Skyhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Harvard beat Plano 10-5. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Reapers: they've now won four in a row.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Johnsburg and Grant Community have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Skyhawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Bulldogs.

Joree Tibbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sarah Nethaway was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abriana Bruns, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Harvard's record is now 13-10. As for Johnsburg, their record now sits at 9-14.
