Football Recap: Northeast Vikings vs. Tarpon Springs Spongers

After flying high against Gibbs last Friday, Northeast came back down to earth. The Northeast Vikings were dealt a 43-8 defeat at the hands of the Tarpon Springs Spongers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Spongers are ranked 134th).

Keatin Emener threw for 114 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes. Milan Murry was his top target, picking up 44 receiving yards. On the ground, Keontae Williams rushed for 27 yards.

Makih Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew for Tarpon Springs as he picked up 114 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Johnson showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 61 yards. Northeast will host Boca Ciega at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tarpon Springs, they will venture away from home to face off against East Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tarpon Springs is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
