Baseball Game Preview: Jones Fightin' Tigers vs. Edgewater Eagles

Jones is 0-5 against Edgewater since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Jones Fightin' Tigers will take on the Edgewater Eagles in a tournament on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Jones is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 24-9 to Wekiva. One positive for the Fightin' Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Nathaniel Pierre and Malachi Porter stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pierre scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2, while Porter scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Zynn Williams-Hopkins, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Jones always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Edgewater came up short against Orangewood Christian on Friday, falling 9-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost three in a row.

Bryson Nicol was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Edgewater's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Jones, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Jones suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Edgewater in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Jones avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
