Volleyball Recap: Collinwood Comes Up Short

Collinwood lost against Loretto on September 2nd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Trojans fell 3-1 to the Mustangs.

Collinwood started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Kandace Luker and Zaylee Allen, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Jordan Andrews and her 16 assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Saydee Powell, each putting up four.

Among those leading the charge was Ella Potts, who had four aces and three digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 12 assists per game.

Collinwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Loretto, their victory bumped their record up to 14-23.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Collinwood will square off against Perry County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Loretto, they will head out to challenge Spring Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
