Tonopah faced Sandy Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Muckers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sidewinders 64-6. Considering the Muckers have won six contests by more than 37 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Dustin Otteson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 193 yards and five scores while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another rusher making a difference was Adelaido Salgado, who gained 122 total yards and a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tonopah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 301 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 269 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Tonopah's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Sandy Valley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
