Football Game Preview: West Point Green Wave vs. Holmes County Central Jaguars + Official Tickets

West Point is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Holmes County Central is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Green Wave will host the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Point is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Pontotoc 37-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Green Wave's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Warriors are ranked 56th).

Quentin Thompson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 166 yards on only seven carries. Those 166 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 283 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Holmes County Central won against New Hope last Friday with 36 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 36-14 margin over Cleveland Central.

West Point better keep an eye on Rashad Campbell. He was instrumental in Holmes County Central's win, rushing for 127 yards and three scores on only 11 carries, while also picking up 44 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Jartavious Smart, who rushed for 61 yards and one TD on only five carries.

West Point's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Holmes County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

West Point skirted past Holmes County Central 31-28 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Do the Green Wave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
