Recap: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Bainbridge Spartans
The Mercer Island Islanders had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They really took it to Bainbridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-27 win on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-13.
Mercer Island was led to victory by Caitlin Monahan and Elianna Weiss. Monahan scored 21 points along with 8 steals, while Weiss went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 5 assists. Another player making a difference was Anna Mock, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals.
Mercer Island's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Bainbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Mercer Island will head out on the road to face off against Inglemoor at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bainbridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Peninsula at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
