Baseball Recap: Forest Triumphs

Forest proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Dunnellon Tigers 9-7. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Michael Dominguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Forest: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Robert Kohler was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Forest's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Kyle Deranzio also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Forest lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Forest's record now sits at 10-8. As for Dunnellon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Looking ahead, Forest will head out on the road to square off against Trinity Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dunnellon, they will face off against Lake Weir at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Weir has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.47 runs per game on average), something Dunnellon will no doubt try to take advantage of.
