Softball Recap: Zephyrhills Comes Up Short at Home Against Sunlake

Zephyrhills unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Sunlake Seahawks by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now lost eight in a row.

Hannah Helms was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, she also posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cali Sisto, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Looking ahead, Zephyrhills will host Academy at the Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sunlake, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hudson at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Sunlake has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
