Volleyball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Mountain Empire

Mountain Empire waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Monarch Royals with a sharp 3-0 win. This was payback for the Redhawks, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Mountain Empire was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-6, 25-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Empire to victory, but perhaps none more so than Breeza Valdez, who had three digs and three aces. Valdez has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bibi Caceres, who had eight kills, eight digs, and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Mountain Empire was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in five consecutive matches.

Mountain Empire's record now sits at 14-6. As for Monarch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Empire will host The Cambridge School at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monarch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Diego Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
