Football Recap: Dakota Lasater's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Freehold Township over St. John-Vianney

If Freehold Township was feeling good fresh off their 41-12 takedown of Colts Neck last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots lost to the St. John-Vianney Lancers at home by a 49-35 margin on Friday. The loss put an end to the Patriots' undefeated start to the season.

Freehold Township's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dakota Lasater, who threw for 188 yards and four TDs. The Patriots' leading receiver Jake Schultzel was Lasater's top target yet again, picking up 66 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, Freehold Township fell to 2-1. As for St. John-Vianney, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freehold Township will challenge Wall Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John-Vianney, they will venture away from home to challenge Point Pleasant Boro at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
